Overview
During peak demand hours, the battery system delivers 10.5 MW of power, reducing strain on Danville’s system and avoiding costly transmission and capacity charges.
Project Benefits
Since going live in October 2022, the battery has increased local grid reliability and reduced Danville’s peak electricity load dramatically, translating to lower bills for every household and business in the city.

Beyond the Grid
To further benefit the community, Lightshift donated $10,000 to the Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity for its Village North project which built four houses for families in need.
These batteries will let us store energy for when our customers need it most.
