Habitat for Humanity begins work on new houses in Danville

The budgets for each house range from $115,000 to $125,000, and funding came by anonymous donors, The West Piedmont Planning District Commission, St. Luke’s The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region, Delorean Power and the PRA Group for the first four houses.

State and local officials gathered Tuesday to hold a ribbon cutting for Danville Utilities’ new battery energy storage system, which was recently energized. The pilot project is one of several initiatives that Danville Utilities has undertaken to offset some of the volatility of the energy market.
