Description of Role:

The Project Development Intern will be an integral member of Lightshift’s team, providing strategic support to the founders with a focus on utility-scale energy storage project origination.


Core responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying viable project sites and assisting with land acquisition activities;

  • Assist with executing development activities to progress projects through the project development lifecycle;

  • Supporting the management of federal, state and local permitting challenges as/when they arise;

  • Helping to prepare for stakeholder meetings throughout the project development process;

  • Supporting the process of obtaining interconnection rights for projects;

  • Performing market research and analytics work that supports the further growth of Lightshift’s project development pipeline;

  • Working with the Head of Market Development to identify new development campaign opportunities;

  • Prepare and present a new development strategy business case (Capstone Project) to Lightshift senior leadership prior to internship completion.


Intern may also be requested to assist with general administrative and management support functions to enhance operations at Lightshift Energy.


The ideal candidate will have (1) project management skills to oversee project development efforts; (2) a strong track record of managing multiple, time-sensitive deliverables in parallel; (3) working knowledge of energy markets; and (4) a collaborative attitude and desire to help as needed to assist with our company’s growth plans.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both written and oral);

  • Demonstrated project management skills;

  • Willingness to travel as needed in support of project needs;

  • Pursuit of at least a BA/BS in business, finance, renewable energy or related degree desired.


Location:

  • Candidate will perform job responsibilities out of Lightshift’s Arlington, VA headquarters.
