Energy storage provides a clean and cost effective alternative to conventional generation and peak capacity resources. Storage is a fast-start, fast-ramp resource with bidirectional capabilities to help to accommodate new load growth, integrate renewables and minimize curtailment, achieve resource adequacy, and improve system reliability and restoration.

TRANSMISSION SUPPORT

Energy storage can open up power flow capability on constrained transmission infrastructure by reducing congestion during peak times and serving as an alternative to conventional transmission investments.  Storage is also highly effective at providing ancillary transmission support services such as frequency regulation, primary frequency response, spinning reserves, reactive power, and load following.
