Description of Role:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant will support all of Lightshift Energy’s accounting activities, including performing day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate has experience working with financing partners in energy infrastructure, managing corporate and project budgets and general corporate accounting. Key responsibilities for the role include:


  • Lead all accounting functions; 

  • Manage the company books and engagement with third party accountants; 

  • Perform the daily operations of the accounting department including accounts payable, accounts receivable, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliation; 

  • Perform monthly closing duties in coordination with third party accountants; 

  • Prepare quarterly/annual unaudited financial statements in coordination with third party accountants; 

  • Process employees’ expense reimbursement on a weekly basis; 

  • Prepare a monthly credit card reconciliation; 

  • Support the Asset Management/Finance Teams in issuing purchase orders & invoices in a timely manner; 

  • Prepare annual 1099 forms; 

  • Collect wire/ACH authorization forms & a copy of a voided check from vendors in a timely manner; 

  • Responsible for monitoring and processing payments for all contracts in a timely manner. 



  • BA degree in accounting preferred; 

  • Minimum 5 years of professional accounting experience required; 

  • Familiarity with Quickbooks required;  

  • Excellent understanding of GAAP financial accounting required; 

  • Strong understanding of month end and year end processes required; 

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting preferred; 

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; 

  • Task-oriented with high attention to detail. 


Reporting to Arlington, VA headquarters preferred, remote arrangements considered for exceptional candidates.


Compensation and Benefits:

  • Title and Base salary commensurate with experience, and generous annual cash bonuses;
